What OCD Is
OCD is constantly running late because you had to tap your steering wheel fifty times before you left or you would have a car crash.
OCD is cancelling meeting up with your friend because of your intrusive thoughts that you might hurt them.
OCD is your hands bleeding non stop from washing them every five minutes and them burning from the pain.
OCD is having a panic attack because you messed up something you’re convinced means your mum will die.
OCD is re-doing a piece of work five times because it’s not right and if it’s not right that means something bad will happen.
OCD is believing you are a horrible person because of every single bad thought you have.
OCD is feeling like you’re drowning in an ocean of intrusive thoughts which terrify you each time they pop into your head.
OCD is lying awake at 3am crying because the horrific images in your mind of you killing someone won’t go away.
OCD is constantly feeling guilty for not doing enough to stop your parents getting hurt.
OCD is feeling like you are contaminated and will make those around you ill.
OCD is spending ten hours a day praying even if you’re not sure if you believe in God because if you don’t then you might go to Hell and that is too painful to consider.
OCD is believing that every one of your actions could cause someone you love to die.
At first OCD promises you that it will protect you and your loved ones. It sneaks into your life, beginning to control ever part of you until there is barely any of you left. It controls each decision you make. Living with OCD is incredibly traumatic.
